All in all the trip was a success. Beautiful route with distances that allowed comfortably for sightseeing. The route was much less inhabited and developed than we imagined, which made it nice and tranquil at times. There was a little more on road riding than we had anticipated, but it was overall was very comfortable. We really enjoyed all the little ferries and bike ferries along the way. Most accommodations were exceptional, especially at the Donau Schlinge, Duerenstein and Emmersdorf at the hotel Zum Schwarzen Baeren. Hotels in Passau and Vienna were wonderful as well. Our least favorite was in Linz at a corporate chain hotel with Casino, which is not what we are looking for when visiting Europe. The breakfast at all hotels were wonderful and had many offerings. The new maps and navigation is a really great tool. Unfortunately our phones did not have enough Gs to use them without wifi, but the route was simple enough to navigate with the maps alone most of the time. We also liked the info about the bike repair places. Of course the bikes were hardly ever near them when we needed them, which brings me to our biggest complaint: The bikes. In a group of 4, we had three flats within the first 2 days, the trip computers were either missing or not working except for one. The bike pumps were cheap and did not work well. One of the repair kits did not have patches. Lights only worked on 2 of the 4 bikes. We had break issues with 2 of the bikes. When we picked up the bikes the front brake barely worked on one bike. The men insisted they were new and should be ok. We had to insists before they were replaced. Without asking we would not have been given pumps and repair kits. There should be a check list at bike hand out so none of these things happen. The group before us at bike handout came back after a few minutes to have their handle bars tightened. This really needs to be addressed (in Passau). This was our 4th trip and we never experienced such poor equipment and lack of care by the people handing out bikes. On a positive note, we really love Rad+Reisen overall and think that this is the best way to travel to experience the countries little hidden corners. Thank you for continually working on improving the experience. Maps keep getting better and customer service is great. Baggage transport is great and very much appreciated. We will be back!
