Late April and early May, so a little damp/cloudy weather. AC Hotel in Pisa is a little ways from the old town. Good explanation of navigating the route by our tour representative. Solid bicycles with appropriate gearing for climbing. A combination of following a described route with mileage cues, maps and yellow arrows on posts. I think about 2 arrows were incorrect, but we figured it out. Lucca and Mendocatini were very nice spots to discover. Florence was crowded as you would expect. Nice to have a day to explore. All other hotels close to attractions. Rooms are reasonable with good breakfasts and friendly staff. The climb from Montecatini over to the next valley on the way to Florence is steep in sections. A long ride along the Arno river on a gravel path leading into Florence, but it does keep you out of the traffic. I would avoid travelling the embankment on the return to Pisa. The rut is narrow, grass long and did lead to 1 fall without injury. The route does keep you off most busy roads (few sections unavoidable), but also does not keep you close to restaurants or coffee shops. More suggestions for your cappuccino would be helpful. Luggage transport was great, it was always there before our arrival. We had some very nice meals at small restaurants all along the route. Nice wines as you would expect. Would do a similar trip again.
