Experience an unforgettable bike and boat trip through the heart of Bavaria – along the Danube and the Main-Danube Canal. Between Regensburg and Bamberg, historic towns, idyllic river landscapes, and well-developed cycle paths await you. Discover charming old towns, imposing churches, medieval architecture, and the famous Bavarian beer culture – actively on your bike and comfortably on board your floating hotel. During the day, you will cycle leisurely through green Bavaria, and in the evening, you will enjoy regional specialties and the peaceful gliding on the water. A perfect combination of exercise, relaxation, and cultural highlights.
Route
You cycle along towpaths beside the canals or on quiet side roads, field and forest paths. There are a few longer climbs to tackle, so a basic level of fitness is recommended.
Day 1: Bamberg
Individual arrival in Bamberg and embarkation from 4:00 p.m. Take your time to discover the picturesque old town – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a real gem of Franconia. Stroll along the Regnitz River, visit the imposing cathedral, or enjoy a typical Franconian beer in one of the traditional inns. Your journey begins with plenty of charm and enjoyment.
Day 2: Bamberg – Erlangen, approx. 45 km
The first stage takes you through the wide meadows of the Regnitz Valley. Forchheim, a cozy half-timbered town, is well worth a stop with its old town flair. In the afternoon, you will reach Erlangen, known for its Baroque architecture, university, and relaxed, youthful atmosphere.
Day 3: Erlangen – Nuremberg, approx. 30 km
The Regnitz Cycle Route continues through renaturalized floodplain landscapes, shaded by old oak trees and crisscrossed by hop vines. Fürth invites you to take a detour with its charming city center. Your destination is lively Nuremberg – a city between the Middle Ages and modernity, with a mighty imperial castle, narrow old town streets, and a great history.
Day 4: Nuremberg – Hipoltstein, approx. 40 km
You leave the city and follow the historic Ludwig Canal with its old locks – a technical masterpiece from the 19th century. Through tranquil countryside and along the Rothsee lake, you will reach Hilpoltstein. The town with its medieval silhouette lies at the entrance to the Franconian Lake District and offers pure Franconian hospitality.
Day 5: Hipoltstein – Beilngries, approx. 40 km
Today you cycle through the picturesque Altmühl Valley. Along the Main-Danube Canal, you follow a route full of nature, history, and enjoyment. The landscape alternates between meadows, rocks, and shady forests. Beilngries awaits you with cobblestone streets, narrow alleys, and Franconian flair – perfect for a relaxing evening.
Day 6: Beilngries – Riedenburg, approx. 30 km
A real treat for nature lovers! You will cycle leisurely through the heart of the Altmühltal Nature Park. Nature trails and information boards tell you about the geology, culture, and history of the region. Your destination is the pretty town of Riedenburg, surrounded by ruins and wooded hills – ideal for strolling and enjoying the scenery.
Day 7: Riedenburg – Regensburg, approx. 55 km
Your last stage begins with a wonderful ride to Kelheim, where the Altmühl and Danube rivers converge. The imposing Liberation Hall towers high above the town and rewards the short climb with a magnificent view. You then cycle along the Danube to Regensburg – magnificent, historic, and lively. Bring your trip to a stylish close in this fascinating UNESCO World Heritage city.
Day 8: Regensburg

Day 1: Regensburg
Individual arrival in Regensburg and embarkation from 4:00 p.m. Discover the medieval old town with its approximately 6,000 listed buildings, a real jewel of European history.
Day 2: Regensburg – Riedenburg, approx. 55 km
The first stage of the cycle tour takes you along the picturesque banks of the Danube and through the rolling hills of the Altmühl Valley. In Kelheim, it is worth making a detour to the Liberation Hall with its magnificent panoramic view. The tour continues past rock formations and castle ruins and through fragrant forests to the romantic town of Riedenburg with its quaint beer gardens.
Day 3: Riedenburg – Beilngries, approx. 30 km
A leisurely tour through the heart of the Altmühl Valley awaits you. With no significant inclines, you cycle through peaceful countryside to the pretty town of Beilngries. Historic buildings, small cafés, and the baroque parish church create a relaxed holiday atmosphere.
Day 4: Beilngries – Hipoltstein, approx. 40 km
You follow the Main-Danube Canal southwards. In Freystadt, it is worth visiting the magnificent pilgrimage church “Maria Hilf.” The destination for the day is Hilpoltstein – a charming small town with a castle, market square, and plenty of Franconian hospitality.
Day 5: Hipoltstein – Nuremberg, approx. 40 km
Today, a varied stage awaits you: you cycle through the recreational area around Lake Rothsee and then discover the historic Ludwig Canal with its old locks. Once you arrive in Nuremberg, you can explore the city’s sights on the “Historical Mile” – from the Albrecht Dürer House to the imposing Imperial Castle.
Day 6: Nuremberg – Erlangen, approx. 30 km
Today, the Regnitz Cycle Route takes you through picturesque river meadows, past old bridges and craftsmen’s houses. After a stop in Fürth, you will reach Erlangen – a charming university town with baroque flair, beer cellar tradition, and a relaxed lifestyle.
Day 7: Erlangen – Bamberg, approx. 45 km
The last stage leads through the green Regnitz Valley – ideal for a stop at a beer garden or a piece of homemade cake. In Forchheim, you can marvel at Franconian half-timbered houses once again before reaching Bamberg – a city steeped in history, with a cathedral, Little Venice, and world-famous beer culture.
Day 8: Bamberg
Disembarkation after breakfast by 9:00 a.m. and individual departure.

We ask you to refrain from bringing hard cover luggage, because storage space in the cabins is very limited.
Eco cabins
These are cabins located at the rear of the ship. Engine noise may be audible.
To bring your own bike/helmet
Bringing your own bike is only avaliable against a surcharge and on request due to lack of space on sundeck.
Please bring your own helmet - there are no rental helmets available. You can purchase a helmet for € 45,- on board.
Schedule- and programme changes
The schedule and programme are always subject to change. If a certain route cannot be taken due to high or low tides, the Skipper retains the right to change the route for reasons of safety without this constituting any legal entitlement to a claim. Because your boat will generally dock at the next port on the same day, your time frame for some activities and sight-seeing will be limited. Due to a very low overhead clearance of some bridges the sundeck will be closed from time to time
