Come with us on an enjoyable bike trip from the Waltz metropolis of Vienna to the green heart of Austria, to Graz. We accompany you on the thermal cycle path through picturesque landscapes and places steeped in history. Baden bei Wien and Wiener Neustadt will amaze you with their glorious history. Gentle hilly landscapes and charming villages are surrounded by lush meadows, orchards and vineyards. The landscape then changes. Green forest slopes follow vineyards and the cyclist enters the picturesque southern Styria.
Along the way, you will repeatedly come across thermal spas and health resorts. The Vienna Basin will enchant you with its centuries-old wine tradition, the landscape of the Vienna Alps and Buckelige Welt is a popular recreation area for the Viennese. The Styrian thermal spa and volcano region is sun-drenched, the towns of Hartberg, Fürstenfeld and Feldbach are regional centers in the midst of extensive hilly landscapes. Along the entire route you will feel the hospitality of the local people and the traditional culinary arts. The thermal cycle path is lined with Heurigen and Buschenschänken, where regional specialties such as Uhudler, pumpkin seed oil and delicious delicacies will tantalize your palate.

The route is hilly and includes some challenging climbs. Half of the tour is covered on bike paths that are separated from road traffic. Otherwise, the bike path runs on country roads, secondary roads or forest roads. Increased traffic is to be expected in towns and cities.
Day 1: Vienna
Your journey begins in the vibrant waltz metropolis of Vienna. The day of arrival is yours - how about a stroll through the city or a visit to a typical Viennese Heuriger?
Day 2: Vienna – Gumpoldskirchen, approx. 32 km
Today you will get into the saddle for the first time and leave the big city behind. You will cycle into the beautiful Vienna Basin. Laxenburg Castle and its park invite you to linger. For wine lovers, the region is a jewel. At Freigut Thallern, one of Austria’s oldest and most traditional wineries, which has been growing grapes since 1141, you can taste the fine wines of this region. In Gumpoldskirchen you can enjoy the winery flair.
Day 3: Gumpoldskirchen – Wiener Neustadt, approx. 30 km
Idyllic wine regions line the bike path until you reach the first highlight of the day, the spa city of Baden. With its spas and thermal springs, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From the distance, you can already see the Viennese Alps. Wiener Neustadt is considered a lively hub of this region with a great history. The city was built with the ransom money for the English King Richard the Lionheart, who was held in Dürnstein, and offers numerous sights. Stroll through the old town and enjoy the pubs and shopping opportunities.
Day 4: Wiener Neustadt – Mönichkirchen, approx. 51 km
Today you will dive into the recreational area of the Viennese people, the Buckelige Welt and the Wechselregion. You cycle past rolling hills, lush forests and fragrant meadows. You will come across dreamy villages where time seems to stand still. Numerous castles and picturesque churches tell stories of times gone by. Nature lovers and those seeking peace and quiet will take Mönichkirchen am Wechsel to their hearts. The charming mountain village is a climatic high-altitude health town with numerous hiking opportunities and guarantees summer freshness without heat days and tropical nights. As the last 10 km of the day’s stage have considerable inclines, the accompanying vehicle can be used as a transfer for this part.
Day 5: Mönichkirchen – Hartberg, approx. 36 km
From this section on, you will experience the green heart of Austria, Styria, on your bike tour. The daily stage awaits you with rolling hills, alpine pasture views and lush green landscape panoramas. Feel the freedom in nature and spoil your palate with typical Styrian specialties. The Brettljause and pumpkin seed oil are omnipresent. Hartberg captivates with its charming old town and inviting cafes. The people of the region are known for their warm hospitality. You will immediately feel welcome and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.
Day 6: Harberg – Fürstenfeld, approx. 45 km
The Styrian thermal spa and volcano region will cast its spell on you today. Numerous spas will greet you along the way. In addition to the thermal springs, this specific spa and volcano region is also known for its world-class wines. Typical for the region are the rosé wine "Schilcher" as well as Buschenschänke, traditional restaurants where local specialties are offered.
Day 7: Fürstenfeld – Feldbach, approx. 51 km
Starting from Fürstenfeld "the capital of the thermal region" you will experience another day of a combination of sporting activity, nature enjoyment and relaxation in the thermal and volcanic region. The route leads along quiet country roads and bike paths through rolling hills, fragrant orchards and green meadows. One highlight is Riegersburg Castle, which sits majestically on a volcanic cone and offers breathtaking views of the region. The "Zotter" chocolate manufactory, known throughout Austria, entices visitors with sweet temptations. In Feldbach, a lively city with a charming city center awaits you.
Day 8: Feldbach – Graz, approx. 64 km
Along the river Raab you cycle leisurely through river meadows, green pastures and small villages. The town of Gleisdorf offers rest stops to explore the old town before you reach the healing climate spa town of Laßnitzhöhe. Take deep, soothing breaths and prepare for the final highlight of the tour. Graz, the capital of Styria, will enchant you from the start. The imposing Schlossberg and the historic old town are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Day 9: Graz
Enjoy the day in Graz. If you wish, you can take the train back to Vienna. The two capital cities are very well connected. Direct trains to Vienna leave every hour. Travel time to Vienna center about 2.5 hours.
