At Rad+Reisen, we are committed to providing barrier-free access to our website for all users, regardless of individual limitations or technical requirements. This is based on the European EU Directive 2019/882 on the accessibility requirements for products and services (European Accessibility Act) and will become binding in Austria with effect from 28 June 2025.
For implementation we follow the internationally recognized Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) in compliance levels A and AA, as well as recognized best practice standards for digital accessibility.
This accessibility statement applies to the website www.radreisen.at as well as www.eurocycle.at and all associated subdomains (as of July 7th 2025)
Accessibility as a process
We see the implementation and improvement of our accessibility as an ongoing process that will continue beyond the deadline set by the above-mentioned law. Accessibility is not a one-time measure but requires ongoing technical developments as well as careful and responsible maintenance of all content. To check and optimize our accessibility, we regularly use the Eye-Able® testing and monitoring tool, as well as manual checks by the online agency web-netz GmbH.
In the last comprehensive Eye-Able® scan (July 07 2025), we achieved an accessibility score of 90,3%. This indicates that our website is already accessible in many areas, while also highlighting specific aspects we continue to improve. The scan specifically excluded isolated pages to which we have no technical access (e.g., embedded third-party tools). These are listed separately in the section “Level of accessibility”
Level of accessibility
This website is partially accessible. It complies with the requirements of WCAG at conformity level AA in most areas. We are working to identify and remove existing barriers step by step.
Which content is not accessible?
- PDF documents (especially older documents) The conversion would require too much effort. If you need information from one of these documents, please contact us.
- Maps showing the itinerary: Text in image form, but this is only a visual supplement to the itinerary described in text form.
- Calendar for selecting travel dates: not accessible via keyboard, but manual entry is possible using the input field.
- The closing of pop-up windows through the tabulator is possible but inconvenient. Adjusting the focus order is a disproportionate burden.
Which content is not yet accessible?
- Videos do not yet have sufficient audio descriptions, transcripts, and subtitles. This is already in progress.
Third-party tools
Some embedded content on our website comes from third-party providers over whose accessibility we have no technical influence. We will endeavor to request accessible alternatives from third-party providers in the future and to resolve existing issues in cooperation with our partners.
This applies to the following external content:
- Entry requirements widget: low contrast and some buttons and form fields are not labeled
- External PDFs (e.g., certificates) not readable for screen readers
- Cookie banner: Alt text in the logo is too short (<5 characters) and parts of the text are scrollable but not reachable by tab
Website usability
Our website is designed to be accessible using various input methods. Navigation is structured in such a way that it is accessible with screen readers and other assistive technologies.
Interactive elements such as menus, buttons, forms, and links are accessible to users who only use the keyboard. The focus is visible in form of a black dotted focus frame to facilitate orientation. A “Skip to main content” link allows you to quickly skip the main menu. On summary pages, you can also use the “Skip to search filters” link to focus on the filters. Checkboxes in forms can be selected using either the Enter key or the space bar.
