A tour in the heart of Gaul where you can discover among the best roman sites of France.

You will cycle than through the famous landscapes where you can recognize the most important Van Gogh paintings. A journey in the Camargue will complete this wonderful tour.

Day 1: Arles

Individual arrival in Arles, the city of diabolical "ferias", muse of artists and poets, known for its rich ancient and Romanesque heritage.

Day 2: Arles–St. Maries de la Mer/ AiguesMortes (approx. 40/60 km, 25/38 miles)

We leave the city and we go into the delta of the Rhone, better known as "Camargue", where nature still prevails over civilization. We will cycle among cane fields, salt lakes, flamingos, horses and bulls. We will stop in SaintesMaries de la Mer, and then we will continue towards the medieval fortress of AiguesMortes.

Day 3: Saintes Marie de la Mer/ AiguesMortes–Nimes (approx. 60/40 km, 38/25 miles)

Back to civilization. Following streets with low traffic we reach the populated centre of Nimes; rich in art and history, it is also called the “Rome of France”, but it also reminds Spain with its arenas and bullfighting.

Day 4: Nimes–St.Hilaire/Uzes (approx. 35/55 km, 22/35 miles)

After a tour of the city, surrounded by its Roman past, we will cycle up to the best preserved Roman aqueduct in E rope: Pont du Gard, a truly spectacularwork. You can refresh with a bath on the banks of the river Gard before reaching St. Hilaire or Uzes.

Day 5: St.Hilaire/Uzes–Avignon (approx. 35/55 km, 22/35 miles)

Riding through gentle hills, today we will reach the capital of Provence. It was a papal city for nearly a century and here seven popes decided, in 1300, the destiny of the Christian Church. A real open air museum. Before the arrival, stop at the beautiful ancient village of Villeneuve Les Avignon.

Day 6: Avignon–Chateauneuf du Pape–Avignon (approx. 40 km, 25 miles)

We will cycle towards Châteauneuf-du-Pape, following low-traffic roads and surrounded by vine- yards. We cross the river Rhone at the height of Roquemaure and we will come back in Villeneuve along the Rhone banks.

Day 7: Avignon–Arles (approx. 60 km, 38 miles)

After leaving the Palace of the Popes, we will cycle again to close the tour returning to Arles. Along the way, we cannot miss a stop at the famous Saint Remy de Provence and Les Baux de Provence made well-known throughout the world by Van Gogh.

Day 8: Arles

Individual departure or extension.
