Level 1, You cycle in a flat to undulating countryside. On Elbe cycle path free of traffic along one of the most beautiful rivers of Germany. Other parts follow minor roads and country lanes through varied river scenery.
Day 1: Meißen
Individual arrival in Meissen; in the evening is your handing out of rental bicycles (if booked) as well as information meeting. Take a stroll through the nice old town of Meißen.
Day 2: Dresden approx. 60 km
Along river Elbe you cycle on the cycle path past Saxon vineyards to Dresden. Explore the unique monuments and architectonical beauties of this city, Zwinger, church Frauenkirche, castle and Semper Opera. You stay in Dresden for two overnights.
Day 3: Meissen
Explore picturesque alleyways of historically grown old town. Fortress Albrechtsburg or world famous Porcelain Manufacture is well worth a lengthy visit. In the late afternoon you have a brief cycle tour to a wine-grower with a walk through his vineyards and wine tasting.
Day 4: Vineyards and Castle Seußlitz approx. 45 km
You cycle on Elbe cycle path to the northernmost vineyards of Germany along Saxon Wine Street. If you are a lover of cultural heritage feel free to visit Castle Diesbar-Seußlitz surrounded by a beautiful park. By ferry you cross over to the opposite river bank and return cycling to Meißen via Lommatzsch and Zehren.
Day 5: Moritzburg approx. 45 km
Today you cycle on winding roads through idyllic valleys to Karl-May-town Radebeul and by Lößnitztal train to Moritzburg. Visit the water castle of August the Strong. Afterwards an idyllic cycle tour through the hinterland from Moritzburg to Meißen is awaiting you.
Day 6: Saxon Switzerland approx. 45 km
By train to Dresden; on Elbe cycle path to Bad Schandau. By ferry crossing you go to Castle Pillnitz with stunning view of the baroque structure. Continue to cycle along the river to steep sandstone rocks of Sand-Stone Mountains. A short climb on Bastei rock is well worth the effort. A marvellous panorama view of the Sand-Stone Mountains and the stream are the reward for the short exertion. Return from Bad Schandau to Dresden by bicycle or by train (optional).
