Piemont has boundaries to France and to Swiss and is the old domicile of the Savoyer. This hapless aristocratic family had govern in Italy from 1870 until 1946. In Piemont meat and drink rank first: a luxurian offer of specialities from a region, which is well-known since many hundred of years for this. The quality of this viands is estimated in the whole world.

Tour profile:
Level 2-3, a tour throug 4 cities, the daily routes are middle level of difficult. The most hilly section allows you to shorten the route by taking a train from Canelli, Santo Stefano Belbo or Neive.
1. Day: Alessandria
Individual arrival to Alessandria.
2. Day: Alessandria – Acqui Terme (approx. 50 km/approx. 31 miles)
You follow the Strada Franca from the year 1454 and negotiate idyllic villages, where you will be able to taste typical products and excellent local wines. Acqui Terme: famous for its spring waters, like the "Bollente" situated in the historical centre.
3. Day: Acqui Terme - Alba (approx. 55 km/approx. 34 miles)
You come across the famous hills of the Langhe, the countryside and the vineyards as well as the splendid small villages of Montabone, Rocchetta Palafea and Canelli. The stage ends in Alba, home of the most precious of the truffles, the Tartufo Bianco, and of the famous "Dolcetto d'Alba".
4. Day: Alba - Asti (approx. 40 km/approx. 25 miles)
A route through vineyards and along panoramic paths which will eventually take you to Asti in the heart of Monferrato. You should visit the historical centre with its famous towers, the romanic monuments and the splendid gothic cathedral.
5. Day: Asti – Turin - Asti (approx. 35 km/approx. 22 miles)
Today you have a choice between cycling across the Asti hills and their natural parks or a trip to Torino. You can reach Torino, the first capital of Italy, by train taking your bike along. It is a city with splendid monuments tree-lined roads and ancient cafés, which offer a choice of chocolate-based specialities.
6. Day: Asti – Casale Monferrato (approx. 55 km/approx. 34 miles)
The hospitaly of the wine cellars and restaurants will ensnare you. On your cycle route you will meet the river Po, the longest river in Italy.
7. Day: Casale Monferrato - Alessandria (approx. 50 km/approx. 31 miles)
Further cycling across green hills and culivated lands. Passing through the small villages on the right side of the Po river you will return to Alessandria where the tour ends.
8. Day: Alessandria
Individual departure or extension.
