Tour profile:

Level 1; Easy routing, mostly flat. Short bike legs along quiet country roads. Ideal for children!

Day1: Oosterwijtwerd

Individual arrival. Your journey starts in the tiny village Oosterwijtwerd, where you will stay on the splendid farm Wijtwerderheerd from 1789. The large garden has a nice view on the surrounding orchards and meadows.

Day 2: Oosterwijtwerd - Pieterburen (approx. 53 km)

Cycling on from Oosterwijtwerd you will pass Godlinze and Uithuizen. In the museum "Het Hoogeland" you can learn how Dutch farmers lived 100 years ago. You will stay at the cosy Zijlbrugge Farm in Pieterburen. Visit the seal breeding station of "seal mother" Lenie ’t Hart.

Day 3: Pieterburen - Noordlaren (approx. 50-70km)

Today you will cycle via some mottes worth seeing, a tea museum and some Hunebeds to Noordlaren. You can also decide to shorten the route by taking the train (not included). In Noordlaren you stay in a farm with view over the Zuidlaarderlake; it is nice to take a tour by boat over the lake.

Day 4: Noordlaren - Noordbroek (ca. 35km)

In the village you will find the only complete Hunebed of Groningen. Also worth a visit are the park of Hortus and the Fairy Park in Zuidlaren. The history of Noordbroek dates back to the Middle Age. 

Day 5: Noordbroek - Oosterwijtwerd (ca. 35km)

Passing old farm houses, the Schildlake, and the water mill of Hoeksmeer you will cycle back to Oosterwijtwerd. Individual departure.

You can extend your holiday with additional nights in Oosterwijtwerd, Pieterburen, Noordlaren and Noordbroek by 9 days.
