On the road to the grave of St. James in Santiago de Compostela.

For more than thousand years people from all over Europa walked along this medevial way of pilgrimship to Santiago de Compostela (UNESCO world Heritage Site) in northwest Spain where St. James is burried. To this day this path achieved its fascinating combination of nature and culture.
The year 2012 is the ideal possibilty to experience this beautiful path individually on your bike.

Level 3, hilly, for bikers with condition and experienced bikers. (minimum age: 14 years).

9 days / 8 nights version

Day 1: León

Individual arrival.

Day 2: León - Astorga (approx. 63 km/ 39 miles)

From León your first stage leads you to Astorga.  The Episcopal Palace of Astorga and the city cathedral were built by Gaudi and are one of the major attractions today.

Day 3: Astorga - Molinaseca (approx. 20-47 km/12-29miles)

You drive through small hamlets and unique landscape until Rabanal del Camino, the highest point on St. James path. Pass the emblematic pilgrimage memorial and after a long downhill you reach the small village Molinaseca.

Day 4: Molinaseca – O’Cebreiro (approx. 52-62 km/32-38 miles)

From Molinaseca you bike via Ponferrada (famous Templar castle) and through the vineyard of Bierzo until the open-air museum O’Cebreiro with its fantastic view. 

Day 5: O’Cebreiro - Portomarín (approx. 67km/42 miles)

Firstly you drive downhill on a panorama path to Triacastella and on via Sárria to Portomarín with its important romanic church.

Day 6: Portomarín - Arzúa (approx. 59km/37 miles)

If you like you can leave St. James path today and bike on side roads through the green, hilly landscape to Arzúa.

Day 7: Arzúa - Santiago de Compostela (approx. 50 km/ 31 miles)

The last stage leads you up- and downhill on side roads towards your destination: Santiago de Compostela. From a distance you can see the impressive towers of the cathedral. Coast the final part towards Santiago.

Day 8: Santiago de Compostela

Use your day off to explore the city. There are lots of monuments worth visiting (cathedral and old town)  

Day 9: Santiago de Compostela

14 days/ 13 nights version

Day 1: Pamplona

Individuall arrival at Pamplona. The capital of Navarra region is situated on a small plateau (443m). Early in July the Sanfermines (bullfights) start in this region.

Day 2: Pamplona - Estella (approx. 48 km/ 30 miles)

In the morning you can stroll through the city. Your first stage leads you via  Puente La Reina towards Estella. Discover the beautiful old city of Estella with its various churches.

Day 3: Estella - Logrono (approx. 45 km/ 28 miles)

Todays stage takes you through the famous vineyard La Rioja to Logrono.

Day 4: Logrono - Burgos (approx. 56 km/ 35 miles)

Today you cycle through vineyards to Santo Domongo de la Calzada. After Lunch transfer to Burgos, city of the Kings of León, one of the most important points on the Camino de Santiago.

Day 5: Burgos - Castrojeriz (approx.51 km/ 32 miles)

Todays stage leads via the castilian plateau to the picturesque village Castrojeriz.

Day 6: Castrojeriz - León (approx.45 km)/ 28 miles) 

You cycle on meadows, via the idyllic village Frómista to Carrión de los Condes. After Lunch you cycle onto todays destination León.

Day 7: León - Astorga (approx.63 km/ 39 miles)
