Route

Tour Profile:

Level 1-2, the self guided bike tours are mostly over flat, paved roads, rarely over unpaved forest bike paths and dirt roads. Rügen offers a few hilly sections at the Mönchgut.

Day 1: Stralsund

Embarkation at 6 p.m. In the evening, you can enjoy a fantastic stroll through the alleys of the medieval town of Stralsund, which is part of the old Hanseatic League and now part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Many historic buildings provide the town its character. One of the most famous buildings is the city hall in brick Gothic.

Day 2: Stralsund - Lauterbach (approx. 50km /31miles)

The Amazone sets sails from Stralsund to head for the fishing village Lauterbach on the island7 of Rügen. First, you bike along the Rügen dike (Rügendamm) and then through the nature preserve in the south of Rügen with its small, lovely villages such as Gustow, Poseritz, and Groß Schoritz. We meet at the ship in Lauterbach. Let the evening wind down with a comfortable stroll through nearby Putbus.

Day 3: Lauterbach - excursions Rügen, Sellin and Münchgut (approx. 30-60km/19-37miles)

While the Amazone remains at the port of Lauterbach, the bike tour continues along the Stresower Bay and Lake Selliner to the sea spas of Binz, Sellin, and on to Göhren, which to this day remains the traditional Mönchgut. If you have any energy left, you can take a detour to the southern tip of Rügen at Thiessow. It is certainly worthwhile. On the way back, you have breath-taking views over the Mönchgut. Overnight stay is in Lauterbach.

Day 4: Lauterbach -  Wolgast (approx. 35km/22miles)

The Amazone sets sail in Lauterbach for a trip to the Greifswald Bodden and to Peenemünde. From Peenemünde you bike across the island of Usedom toward Wolgast. The tour brings you to Trassenheide and Karlshagen, which are small towns at the Baltic See with fantastic sandy beaches. We spend the night in Wolgast.

Day 5: Wolgast - excursions Usedom (approx. 35km/22miles)

The Amazone remains in Wolgast. Bicycle tour across the island of Usedom to the Baltic Sea spas of Zinnowitz, Uekeritz, Heringsdorf, and Ahlbeck.  The return trip can be taken by train (payable on site).

Day 6: Wolgast - Greifswald (approx. 38km/24miles)

Under sails, the tour continues from Wolgast to Greifswald. You can spend the day on board and sail actively or you can pedal from Wolgast to Greifswald. This tour leads you through the Ziese Valley in the midst of nature and small rural villages. It is well worth to take a break at the magical cloister ruin Eldena before arriving at the Hanseatic city of Greifswald where you are welcomed by the Amazone.

Day 7: Greifswald - Stralsund (approx. 43km/27miles)

The Amazone sets sail from Greifswald to Stralsund. You bike along the Strelasund from Falkenhagen to Brandshagen. Along the way, you pass by the cormorant and grey heron colonies at Niederhof.

Day 8: Stralsund

Disembarkation after breakfast, at approx. 10 a.m. Individual departure.
