Kvarner Bay PLUS by E-bike & boat

from/to Omisalj
  1090,-

Countless islands in crystal clear water, deeply fissured cliffs, picturesque beaches and numerous small bays. That’s the Kvarner Bay in the northern Adriatic. Every island is different. Each has its own history.

We spend a week discovering the landscape and people of this unique island world by bike independently and with the aid of knowledgeable tour guides. On a romantic motor yacht, our floating accommodation, we discover the charm of the Adriatic in our own special way. The itinerary of the trip is in some ways parallel to our regular cycling cruise in the Kvarner Bay – the Plus-Tour therefore could be a good alternative in case of an already fully booked regular cycling cruise at your preferred travel date. This tour is part of the Plus-Programs, consisting of three different tours which are characterized by especially for these trips built deluxe boats - a new category of boats which are synonym for greatest possible comfort due to the offered space and luxurious furnishing.
our tip:
because of limited capacity we recommend to book early!

Travel details

Tour profile:

Level 2-3: The bike tours require a basic level of fitness from participants, which they should have acquired from steady cycling. The cycling tours fit in equal measure to cyclists with trekking bikes or E-bikes. If a rental bike is used, you are kindly requested to decide either on a trekking bike or an E-bike before commencement of travel. The routes can reach an altitude of 660 to 1640 ft./ 200 to 500meters. The daily routes, of 12-28 mi./ 20-45 km, cover hilly and mountainous terrain and can be completed without time constraints. You also come across some longer and rather steep climbs, where walking your bike is of course permitted. The tour guides inform you about the course of the tour in due time. You can also choose to skip a bike tour and spend a day sunbathing on the ship instead. The roads are mostly asphalted and there is little traffic outside of holiday periods. You can decide every day for yourself, whether you would like to cycle individually using the maps provided, or join the tour guides.

Day 1: Omišalj – Malinska - Krk (approx. 14 mi./ 22 km)

Individual arrival at Omišalj, a nice little harbor village on the island of Krk. The cabins on the motor yacht will be ready for you from 11 am. At about 1 pm the boat leaves and takes us to Malinska, the starting point of our first cycling tour that leads us to Krk town, the lively capital of the island, where we can join our tour guide on a stroll through the historic old town.

Day 2: Island of Rab (approx. 10 + 15 mi./ 17 + 25 km)

In the morning crossing from Krk town to Lopar on Rab Island. From there we cycle through the northern part of the island, which is green and rich in water to the Rab town - the fortified capital of the island, was built in the middle ages on a wedge shaped headland, and marks one of the highlights of the trip. The four famous bell towers are the symbol of the adorned beauty of the town. In the afternoon we may go for a second bike ride that leads us along the coast to the east side of the island, an area with virtually no vegetation, which’s rough and cliffy rocks remind us of a lunar landscape. On a guided evening walk we can explore the most interesting sights of Rab. Numerous cosy cafes invite us to enjoy a drink in the narrow alleys after dinner.

Day 3: Island of Pag – Zadar (approx. 22 mi./ 35 km)

After a short cruise we reach the island of Pag. In the harsh but delightful landscape of the island we come across many fig and olive trees. Over the centuries the inhabitants have built numerous stone walls for protection against the wind. Starting from Lun we cycle first to Novalja and finally to Mandre, where the boat awaits us to take us to Zadar, which, for centuries, was the political, cultural and spiritual centre of Dalmatia. Our tour guide takes us on an extensive walk through the lively city centre. 3000 years of history have left their imprint on the character of this town and there are many things to be admired: the mighty fortified walls with their bastions, the loggia but also the early Romanesque St. Donatus Basilica.

Day 4: Island of Dugi Otok (approx. 45 km/ 28 mi.)

During breakfast the ship leaves and takes us past many small islands to the "spice island" of Dugi Otok. The destination of our cruise is the worth-seeing nature park of Telašcica. In the peaceful atmosphere we go for a walk to Lake Mir and along the impressive cliffs of the island. Later on today’s bike tour starts and leads us along an almost traffic-free road offering many terrific views of the deep blue sea and the surrounding islands until we reach the bay of Božava. On our way we meet the ship for lunch in one of the picturesque fishing villages. Before we arrive at Božava there is also the chance to make a detour to the lighthouse of Veli Rat.

Day 5: Islands of Molat and Lošinj (approx. 6 + 12 mi./ 10 + 20 km)

A short cycling tour in the morning leads us from Molat to Zapuntel where the boat already awaits us for the crossing to the island of Lošinj. From Mali Lošinj, an old seafaring and health resort with colorful houses, we cycle in the afternoon along the seaside walk we cycle to the south of Lošinj and visit the picturesque small harbor of Veli Lošinj which is dominated by the impressive church of Holy Anton. Afterwards we return to Mali Lošinj where the nice small music bar at the harbor invites us for spending an unforgettable evening.

Day 6: Islands of Lošinj and Cres (approx. 28 mi./ 45 km)

In the morning we bike along a panoramic route to a swing bridge that leads us over an already in Roman time built canal to the island of Cres. In the artist town of Osor – directly situated at the canal – we meet the boat for lunch. Before we cycle further to Martinšcica, we can go on a guided walk through Osor. From Martinšcica the boat takes us to Cres town. After dinner we can take part in a short guided tour through the Venetian old town of Cres.

Day 7: Island of Krk (approx. 45 km/ 28 mi.)

After a longer cruise in the morning to Malinska on Krk Island we cycle over the ridge of the island which is covered by fragrant macchia to a valley of vineyards and then onwards to the small museum town of Vrbnik in the northeast. The town built on a 165-feet-high (50m) cliff and surrounded by vineyards is the home of the famous white wine Žlahtina. Another peculiarity that Vrbnik has to offer is the second narrowest alley in the world. The way leads us across the island through old villages and rich vegetation to Omišalj. On our way we have a chance to swim in the bay of Soline. The last evening aboard takes place traditionally and includes the communal dinner and a last get-together in a cosy atmosphere with crew and tour guides.

Day 8: Omišalj (Departure)

After breakfast disembarkation until 9 am and individual trip home or extended stay in Croatia.

The captain reserves the right to make changes to the planned route due to changing wind and weather conditions and where required by organizational necessities.
