the tour is mostly flat, sometimes hilly terrain. The Austrian section is lead on well equipped bike paths, in Hungary you will bike on country roads and side roads. In and out of the cities some traffic!
Individual arrival in Vienna.
Not far from Vienna begins an untouched luscious landscape and a Nature Reserve with stunning and diverse Flora and Fauna. Get away from it all and enjoy the wonderful peace and silence, which is only interrupted by the twittering chirps of local birds. The Archaeological Park of Carnuntum invites you with open arms into an exiting journey into the past. Then following the path on to the Slovak capital, Bratislava.
The marshy landscape of the Szigetköz is an ideal environment and paradise for birds and fish alike. In the midst of this wild and untouched lowland with its more than 500 tiny islands, you will find quaint farming villages and a labyrinth of seemingly endless Danube canals and creeks.
In an area dominated by marsh and creeks is the industrial City of Györ. This industrial-based village is surrounded by majestic rivers in combination with a variety of gorgeous historical sights and architecture. The National Stud Ranch of Babolna is world famous for its Arabian horse breed and is absolutely is worth a visit.
Tata is referred to and known as ”The City of Water“ and is a wonderful, romantic, quaint village of gardens, streams and lakes. Directly in the village you will find fishing huts, windmills, a recreational park and extensive meandering promenades and walkabouts.
Today’s route leads you through the rolling foothills of the Gerecse Mountain Range. Dense forest will provide you with a nice cool shade to ride your bike under. In the village of Esztergom, and “The Gateway to the Danube Bend” is the domicile of the head of the Hungarian Catholic Church, the archbishop.
Amidst the rolling hills, the Danube divides itself creating the Szentendre Island. After a short ferry ride (not incl.), cycle down the small country roads through the welcoming villages. Back on the mainland, the Open-air Museum of Skanzen is highly recommended to visit. During the boat ride or train ride to Budapest, you will have a fantastic view of some of the most famous sights in the capital of Hungary, Budapest. Another added highlight on this tour is the opportunity to stay the night in the world famous Hotel Gellert, known for its outstanding spa facilities in Art Nouveau architecture (surcharge applied).

In Budapest we highly recommend to join a city tour by bike.
